Brooklyn born and bred, more than thirty years of Bay Area living now has Steve considering himself at least a stepson of San Francisco. His journey from the flat lands of New York to the sloping streets of Bernal Heights has encompassed working as an account executive for a trading company in Taiwan as well as extensive film production on location in China and Hong Kong.
While in Taipei, Taiwan, Steve studied Mandarin, a language he remains conversant in as well as humbled by. During a short stint earning a graduate degree in East Asian Studies at Stanford, Steve was introduced to Northern California’s charms, from hiking Pt. Reyes trails to sipping Anderson Valley pinots.
Steve’s business experience, handy in negotiating the buy-and-sell world of real estate, includes ten years running his own company, attending auctions across the U.S. to transact the purchase and reselling of large lots of industrial and consumer goods. More recently, he has also successfully marketed books and educational products for both major Chinese (China International Publishing Group) and Western (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) publishers.
When Steve has time away from the excitement of making a good and fair deal, he volunteers at the Asian Art Museum and enjoys camping and backpacking in areas where, ironically, there are no structures for sale. If you would like any advice on beautiful Bay Area hikes or exploring the trail from Anza-Borrego desert to Zion canyon, please feel free to contact him.
