5 Design Trends From Decorator’s Showcase

The 2016 San Francisco Decorator Showcase Home at 298 Chestnut Street in Telegraph Hill is open to the public until May 30.

McGuire Real Estate had a private evening event where agents and clients could take in the splendidly designed rooms. Here are the top interior design trends throughout the house:

1.) Light Wood: The wood features throughout the rooms leaned toward light color stained wide planks. Floors and cabinets particularly had a light grey, beachy hue. The girls bedroom stuck to traditional floors, but covered the walls in a orange-toned wood plank wall paper.

2.) Herringbone: From floors to wallpaper to curtains, herringbone is making a serious statement.Herringbones

3.) Slate, Steel, Teal and Dark Blue: Blue is in, whether you go cool, calming steel blue or big and bold. Furniture, walls, drapery, accents, or even the ceiling.Blues

4.) Bold Color Ceilings: The old school of thought that colored ceilings makes a room look small is out the window. Bonus points if you make it extra shiny.ceilings

5.) Mixed metals: Brass is back, but not how you are used to seeing it. A number of treatments are making brass cool again: distressed, patina, brushed… brass fixtures are the new stainless steel. But don’t go switching out everything to brass: mix brass in with oxidized bronze and cool metalics.

When putting your home on the market, updating your home’s fixtures and color palette to today’s trends is a relatively inexpensive way to add value and increase the sale price. Also, make sure you hire a home stager who frequently updates their staging furniture to the latest styles.
