Named as one of the Bay Area’s best seafood restaurants and one of the most romantic restaurants in all of San Francisco, Waterbar is a no-brainer for date night. Located right on the waterfront, you can taste selections from Chef Parke Ulrich’s daily changing menu. A reflection of the day’s best fresh-caught and sustainably sourced fish and the most expansive selection of oysters on the West Coast, the menu includes everything from Fried Local Squid to Soy Glazed Pork Cheeks and everything in between.

Coqueta means “flirt” or “infatuation” in Spanish and while it represents passion and exploration of Spanish Cuisine for the restaurant team, it translates pretty well for a romantic date night, too. The eatery is owned by Chef, Vintner, TV Host and Specialty Foods Pioneer Michael Chiarello who also owns Napa Valley’s critically-acclaimed Bottega, and it has been named a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient for four consecutive years — so you know you’re in for a treat.

Chef Dominick Maietta creates inspired seasonal tapas and raciones including Paella, famed Patatas Bravas, and salmon-topped open-face sandwiches, all alongside stunning cocktails, regional wines and sumptuous desserts.

Hog Island Oyster Co. hand raises and shucks every oyster, mussel and clam at their Tomales Bay farm in Marshall. Inside the San Francisco Ferry Building, just an hour and a half from the farm, you can see for yourself why their oysters are some of the best in the Bay.

Nestled along the waterfront with iconic views of the Bay Bridge, this restaurant offers a seasonally changing seafood menu and an impressive list of craft cocktails — all prepared in true ‘Bay to Bar’ fashion.

The Slanted Door

In 2014, The Slanted Door won the James Beard award for Outstanding Restaurant and it has been engendering local pride ever since. The team serves up a menu of Vietnamese-inspired dishes born from in-depth ingredient studies, test kitchen successes and local, California ingredients. For every item on the menu, Executive Chef Charles Phan goes to the original source region of that item so he can fully understand its uses, its inspiration and its flavors. There’s a lunch menu, a dinner menu, a prix fixe menu and a dessert menu, but ultimately, we just recommend stopping by to see what all the hype is about.

Boasting a breathtaking bayscape, farm-to-table produce and sustainable seafood, it’s everything an iconic San Francisco restaurant should be. From the warm, rustic design to the artful cocktail list — your date night will be a cut above all the others, just like this SF classic.
