“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” – Anne Lamott
As I prepare to disconnect from “the grid” for a few days while leading a mindfulness workshop at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, I am mindful of how difficult it can be to unplug.
It’s difficult for me to step away from my job long enough to have coffee with a friend. Choosing to take days away for a non-real-estate-related purpose is almost impossible.
And yet it’s so vital! (Don’t take my word for it. Check out this from Marie Forleo.)
Whether it’s your job, your avocation, raising your kids, caregiving for an elderly relative, reorganizing the basement or just bout anything, a timeout (for a week, for a day, for two hours) can help boost productivity and motivation.
I highly recommend a timeout from looking at real estate if you’re a buyer in the Bay Area. The quest can be so wearying that it’s smart to – every now and then – turn the search off temporarily. Enjoy a little downtime. Return feeling refreshed.
While you’re taking a breather, your agent can still be on the case and poised to call you immediately if the “perfect” property arises. It really IS possible to let it go.
