Tiburon Historic Sales
Historically, Tiburon has been one of the most expensive locations in the Bay Area to purchase a home. In 1965 the average home price was just above $40,000 moving to an all-time high of over $2.2 million in 2007. This is in comparison to San Rafael which started in 1965 at $30,000 and peaked at around $900,000 in 2007.
The proximity to San Francisco, stellar views of the city and the bay, as well as having great schools (all three elementary schools are California Distinguished Schools), contributes to the acceleration of value over time.
Here is some information on the last four years of single family home sales in Tiburon:

Year to date figures for 2009 were somewhat of an anomaly due to the sale of a $9 million home. Removing that sale from the data, the average sales price drops to $2,058,091.
