This chart shows 2010 sales for duplex-fourplex properties in various parts of Marin County as well as Petaluma and Santa Rosa.

As you can see, there have been three times as many sales of multi-family properties in Santa Rosa and Petaluma combined as in all of Marin County. And the price/unit says it all.

• In Marin, price per unit ranges from $553,875 in Southern Marin (Sausalito, Belvedere, Tiburon, Mill Valley) to $289,091 in San Rafael.
• Central Marin (Corte Madera, Larkspur, Greenbrae, Kentfield, San Anselmo) prices are in-between at $329,650.
• Petaluma and Santa Rosa offer investment buyers a tremendous value right now at per unit sold prices of only $166,418 and $135,937 respectively.
