Saving Money On Your Applicances This Holiday Season

Blogged on 12/14/2009 by Gregory Bryan

I am writing to all homebuyers and homeowners in San Francisco, from Pacific Heights to Noe Valley to the Mission: there are a variety of incentive programs available for “going green.”

Local government, utilities and federal tax credit programs are available, and many people are not aware that these programs exist. The incentives vary depending on where you live, but a great website for finding out which programs are available in your neighborhood is Flex Your Power. Here you can just type in your zip code and the incentives will pop up.

Some of the programs include PG&E, one of the utility companies in my neighborhood, which is offering $150 for purchasing a high energy efficient washer, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission which is offering $200. The SFPUC is offering free low flow shower heads to their customers. There is also a 30% tax credit from the US Department of Energy for qualifying solar water heaters. These are just a few of the 80 or so programs available in my zip code.

So if you are going to buy any new appliances, doing any plumbing, home improvement work or installing solar or other green technology products in your home this holiday season, you should definitely check FYPower.org.

If you want other great tips on other programs or need any real estate assistance in the San Francisco area, don’t hesitate to email me.
