Adventures in Cow Hollow

Blogged on 1/31/2010 by Marla Moresi-Valdes

It’s a new year—time to stick to those resolutions and explore new and fun opportunities! If you live in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow, you will have no problem eating healthy and staying in shape with all of the amazing options in this area. But this year, if you are looking for some creativity and adventure, Cow Hollow is the place to be! Below is a list of some fun places for both children and adults to get your creative year off right.

The Exploratorium, located at 3601 Lyon Street, is a great place for all ages. The museum is “hands on” and has tons of experimental activities and events. Whether you are interested in science, art, nature or technology, the Exploratorium has an opportunity for you to get creative and explore! The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 am-5pm and has free parking. General admission is about $15.00 for adults/$10.00 for children.

If you’re interested in live entertainment, BATS Improv Theater is a great place for you to view performances or, for the more outgoing adventurer, participate! Located in the Fort Mason Center, BATS holds classes and workshops for all levels and puts on performances weekly.

For those resolving to improve your green thumb this year, The Fort Mason Community Garden is a wonderful way to start. The garden is located inside the gates of the Fort Mason center. Each member of the community garden is allowed their own 20×5 plot of land to grow delicious, organic fruits and veggies. Visit their website for applications and membership information.

Once you’ve mastered the art of gardening you can put your veggies into action through a cooking class at Mariposa Kitchen located at 216 Mallorca Way. Classes are offered weekly, and each class has the option of adding a wine pairing to the session. Soon enough you will be able to have friends and family over for a wonderful dinner party, showing off your cooking and gardening skills and telling stories of your adventures in Cow Hollow!
