More Restaurants on Noe Valley's 24th Street?

Blogged on 2/24/2010 by David Varni

San Francisco’s planning commission voted unanimously to lift a strict 23 year ordinance that has restricted new eateries from opening on 24th Street. The area has lost seven restaurants since the restrictions were imposed and residents are eager for new places to dine.

Over the past few years, Noe Valley residents have watched new cafes gravitate to the Mission, leaving several storefronts vacant on 24th Street. With the ordinance, though, the city would limit these new restaurants to “slow food” only, forbidding any type of fast food from opening.

Noe Valley residents and business owners are excited with the news that new restaurants may be opening. They have watched the Valencia corridor open some of the best restaurants in the city and look forward to Noe Valley doing the same to stimulate the neighborhood economy.
