Going Green - In Practice
Blogged on 2/26/2010 by McGuire Real Estate
I visited the X Ray House in South San Francisco.
The city of South San Francisco has put this house on display, which from my perspective, is truly an educational model for green. It was done simply to promote greener building practices. This city-owned home will be available to tour for about a year.
Kitchen countertops with 85% recycled materials, a tankless water heater and a water savings-approach to the landscaping are just some of the highlights. I’m not even sure how much more to describe and would simply recommend taking a tour. It was very exciting to walk through a house that has been transformed. The house is not for sale. It’s more about education in support of green sustainability. If you’d like a tour, just let me know.

Wow! That's an amazingly proactive project for a city to do. It looks like a remodel of an ordinary tract home. Jim, receptionist/mgr at the Bluxome office sent me a great list of green prefab homes in response to my blog last week about green "kit" homes and old Sears homes. The list he sent me will be the basis of my next blog posting! I'll forward it to you when I've written it, it's an amazing collection of green homes.
