For most of its history, Noe Valley was known as a quaint, remote and relatively inexpensive neighborhood.

But with the dot-com boom of the early 90s, all of that changed when, inspired by a shortage of available housing, the neighborhood was discovered by a more white-collar crowd who snapped up properties and began to make Noe Valley their homes.

Named for José de Jesús Noé, the last Mexican alcalde, or mayor, of San Francisco, the majority of development in Noe Valley took place at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. Small wonder, then, that the neighborhood features many of San Francisco's trademark Edwardian- and Victorian-style homes.

In a Word

Living Here

With its beautiful weather, single family homes and cute boutiques on 24th Street, it’s easy to see why so many San Franciscans, including singles, new and established families, and empty nesters alike, flock to Noe Valley.

Catering to such a diverse neighborhood population, Noe Valley offers a variety of year-round things to experience, including:

Much of the old and new of Noe Valley can be seen in the stores along 24th Street between Castro and Church. Check out Wink, Rabat, Ambiance, Shoe Biz, and Just for Fun.

Why Noe Valley?

Weekends bring crowded sidewalks packed with residents taking every advantage of all that this neighborhood has to offer. Testament, if ever any was needed, to the fact that Noe Valley is an incomparable place to live.
