Named for the adjacent Glen Canyon Park, just prior to the 1900s, Glen Park was developed as a streetcar suburb by City planners who assumed (and rightly so) that the area would need to cater to working families with busy lifestyles.

Today, Glen Park is a sparkling jewel of a neighborhood, a self-contained hillside village within the City whose curvy streets have a quaint, old-world flavor and homes that date from the Victorian era on.

In a Word

Living Here

For outdoor recreation, you can’t beat Glen Canyon Park with its playing fields and trails (perfect hikers and their four-legged companions).

When it comes to dining, the neighborhood offers a plethora of restaurants and cafes, such as  Gialina PizzeriaLa Corneta TaqueriaTataki Canyon, Cheese Boutique, Manzoni, and CafĂ© Bello, among others.

As locals know (and appreciate), it’s possible to do most of your errands on foot in Glen Park. Pick up groceries at the beautiful Canyon Market, stop by the Glen Park branch of the public library for something to read, then visit Glen Park Hardware for home improvement items.

And if you’re in the mood to shop on the way, there’s no shortage of places to choose from, such as Perch, Bird & Beckett Books and Records, JohnJames, and many more.

Although residents love it for its tucked away, private feel, there’s a vibrant commercial area at the heart of Glen Park. What’s more, with its quick access to 280, 101 and MUNI, and very own BART station, this area has some of the best public transportation options anywhere in the Bay Area.

Why Glen Park?

Over the past 30 years, Glen Park has come into its own as a thriving, ethnically diverse community.

What draws residents (and keeps them here)? Think natural beauty, a small-town vibe and easy access to everything, and you begin to get a sense of Glen Park’s appeal.
