Once a trading post established by a Scotsman named James Ross (the town took its first name, Ross Landing, from its founder and, until 1905, was subsequently called Tamalpais, then Kent), today, Kentfield is one of Marin County’s quieter communities.
Here you’ll find spacious, older homes that sit on large plots of land carefully maintained by the proud, family-centered residents who call Kentfield home.
Family-friendly
Ask anyone in Kentfield, and they’ll tell you that Woodlands Market is the hub of all community life here.
Since 1986, Woodlands Market has operated as a local, family-owned, independent gourmet grocery store, wine bar, café, and bakery.
Residents shop at the market and stay to socialize. There’s even a weekly wine tasting event at the store. Check out the store’s community calendar of events, and you’ll see what we mean.
Along with its sister community, Kent Woodlands, Kentfield takes name from Marin pioneer William Kent (1864-1928), a three-term congressman, philanthropist, and founder of Muir Woods.
Simply stated, it’s all about quality of life. This is especially true for parents who want to live near some of the best schools the Bay Area has to offer, as Kentfield boasts a number of award-winning public and private schools to choose from.
