Presidio Heights is an elegant neighborhood surrounded by the urban Richmond District and ritzy Pacific Heights. It is a small enclave of elegant homes that was first developed after the 1906 earthquake. Therefore the architectural style of the homes is mostly Edwardian. Some of San Francisco’s most prestigious families and dignitaries live here.

Stop by for something to eat at Beautifull, Rigolo, Asqew Grill, A.G. Ferrari or Noah’s Bagels. And there are two supermarkets: Cal-Mart and Bryan’s Grocery. If you’re looking for coffee, there’s no shortage at Peet’s or Starbucks. There’s also great shopping at Books Inc, Emily Lee Sportswear, A Wine Impression, Standard 5 and 10, or any number of kid’s stores, including Gymboree, Gap Kids and the Stride Rite Shoes.

Down the road at California and Presidio you’ll find a cluster of shops, including the Jewish Community Center, the stylish Laurel Inn and the hip Swank Cocktail Club. Walk up the hill one block and you’ll come to Sacramento Street, a relaxed collection of high-end clothing boutiques, jewelry stores and day spas.
