The neighborhood of Mission Dolores sits between The Mission and Eureka Valley/Dolores Heights. It is a popular area for a mix of people, from working-class Latino families to young professionals to artists and others who enjoy its culturally diverse atmosphere. Within the Mission area it is easy to find great food like spicy taquerias and Mexican bakeries, as well as buildings of historic significance.

The Mission is home to Mission Dolores, the city’s oldest structure and the sixth Franciscan Mission along El Camino Real. Located nearby is the ornate Mission Dolores Basilica. The original Levi Strauss factory is located in this area at 250 Valencia St. and has since been converted into the San Francisco Friends School.

The Mission enjoys an eclectic mix of housing stock. There are approximately 2,600 Victorian homes, of which approximately 900 are Italianate houses of the 1870s, another 800 are the Stick-style houses popular in the 1880s, and only about 550 Queen Anne houses since by the 1890s, most Inner Mission land was already built upon. Several newer developments in the area like The Valencia, 1587 15th St., Chelsea Park, and more offer a more modern feel and have been strongly influenced by the live/work loft movement of the early 1990s. These homes offer expansive spaces with high ceilings and abundant natural light.
