BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL WAREHOUSE CONVERSION IN DOGTOWN
Formerly an industrial warehouse space, 2828 HELEN STREET is located in the urban chic area of West Oakland. This dramatic and impressive renovation was newly completed, creating an almost brand new private residence that features an elegantly designed floorplan, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and 2,266 square feet of fabulous living space.
Its sturdy exterior galvanized metal façade camouflages its interior elegance. As you enter through the unassuming front door you are greeted by the marvels of its over 20-foot ceiling. Two floors of comfortable splendor, include an open floorplan main level whose back wall opens nearly entirely to an extremely private garden with fountain. The living room and dining areas are connected allowing both access to the warm ambiance of the five-foot modern fireplace. Searching for every finish, fixture and surface, the design team incorporated only the best in the home. The kitchen circles a large island with sleek waterfall counters, stylish cabinets and top of the line appliances including a six-burner Blue Star range. From this space you also have access to the large two-car garage and stylish downstairs powder room.
Up the open steel staircase, the second floor and its spacious bedrooms benefit from over 10-foot tall ceilings. All 3 bedrooms feature large closets and modern en suite baths. Within the master, one entire wall is comprised of closets providing space for all your belongings and connects to a large bath with freestanding tub, dual sinks, pattern tiled accented shower and water closet. The two additional bedrooms share an exterior catwalk that extends the entire width of the home blending the industrial elements of the neighborhood with the residential use of the home. No expense was spared in transforming this once urban warehouse into a top-of-the-line modern home.
But understanding where a home is located is central in any purchase and this home is in the Dogtown area of West Oakland. Known for its artsy mixture of modern condos and old Victorian homes, Dogtown is perfectly located in close proximity to San Francisco, the West Oakland BART Station and other local favorite destinations like Rockridge, Temescal and Downtown Oakland. Directly across the street is the newly built West Oakland Farm Park. With its weekly Farmer’s Market and play area, it is quickly becoming a hub for the local community. Shopping is just a few blocks away in Emeryville and new restaurants and coffee shops are popping up in West Oakland at a clip.

More About West Oakland
Located along the waterfront of the Port of Oakland, West Oakland has something of a colorful past.
Once deeded in the early 1800s to Spanish Army soldier Luis Maria Peralta in what would go down as one of the largest land grants in history, by mid-century, men who had been leasing the land began illegally selling off farm plots. Among these squatters was none other than Horace Carpentier, who would become Oakland’s first mayor.
Near the turn of the century, West Oakland swelled in population as people from across the United States, Mexico, Asia, and Europe began to make their homes here. By the late 1800s, the area — complete with its own baseball team, the Oakland Oaks — would begin a cycle of upheaval and renewal that spanned the twentieth century and continues to this day.
